The children in the Chatsworth Maths Club have been having a go at some really hard multi-step problems using all aspects of number! Can you give us your answer?
First you have to find the adults cost by doing 668x2=1336,then you have to find the childrens fees by doing ((668/2)+150)x3=1452.After that you have to calculate how much they had to pay for supplements by doing (16x5)x14=1120.Finally add all of them together. BY KAVEESH
Because they are checking in on the 15th, the adult price is 1336(668x2).For one child, the price is 484(668/2+150) , but because there are 3 children, you have to times 484 by 3 which is 1452.They also want a seaview and a balcony. A seaview would cost 10 pounds per person each day,but there are 5 people so it would be 50 pounds.But they are staying for two weeks so you need to times 50 by 14 which is 700. The balcony costs 6 pounds per person each night,but there are 5 people so it is 30 pounds.But they are staying for two weeks so you need to times 30 by 14 which is 420. Now you have to add all the prices together which would be 3908(1336+1452+700+420).
I am Ishaan from Downing Street and here is my answer.
The total cost is £3,908. Here is my working out.
The basic cost per child from August 15 = £(334 + 150) = £484
The basic hotel cost for adults for a two week holiday starting from August 15 is £668 × 2 = £1,336, and the same for the three children is £484 × 3 = £1,452. So the basic hotel cost for the two weeks is £1,452 + £1,336 = £2,788.
The cost for the Sea view for the family of 5 per night is £10 × 5 = £50, and the total cost for 14 nights is £50 × 14 = £700.
The cost for the Balcony for the family of 5 per night is £6 × 5 = £30, and the total cost for 14 nights is £30 × 14 = £420.
So, the total amount they have to pay the hotel is £2,788 + £700 + £420 = £3,908.
Step 1: £668 x 2 = £1336 (price of two adults) Step 2: £668/2 = £334 Step 3: £334 + £150 = £484 (price of one child) Step 4: £484 x 3 = £1452 (price of 3 children) Step 5: £1452 + 1336 = 2788 (price of the whole family) Step 5: £10 + £6 = £16 (price of one person in the hotel when with a balcony and sea view) Step 6: £16 x 5 = £80 (price of the whole family in the hotel when with a balcony and sea view) Step 7: £80 x 14 = £1120 (price of the whole family in the hotel when with a balcony and sea view for 2 weeks - 14 days) Step 8: £1120 + £2788 = £3908 ( the total price to pay to their hotel)
They start the holiday on the 15th August so the price for one adult is £668. There are two adults so £668 + £668 = £1336 The price for one child is £668(adult price) / 2 = 334 334 + 150 = £484 £484 X 3 = £1452 for all three children. £1336 (adults) + £1452 (children) = £2788 for all five people Sea view = £50 per night £50 X 14 = £700 Balcony = £30 per night £30 X 14 = £420 £700 + £420 = £1120 £2788 (price for everyone) + £1120 (sea view and balcony) = £3908 The total cost for the holiday is £3908.
Is this only for maths club?
ReplyDeleteNot at all! It would be lovely to see everyone have a go.
ReplyDeletegreat!!
DeletePrice for 2 adults= 668 x 2 = 1336
ReplyDeletePrice for three children= 668 ÷ 2 = 334
334 + 150 = 484
484 x 3 = 1452
Sea view and balcony = 10 + 6
= 16 per person, per night
For a fortnight = 16 x 14
= 224 per person
For 5 people = 224 x 5 = 1120
Total cost for hotel = £1336 + £1452 + £1120
= £3908
First you have to find the adults cost by doing 668x2=1336,then you have to find the childrens fees by doing ((668/2)+150)x3=1452.After that you have to calculate how much they had to pay for supplements by doing (16x5)x14=1120.Finally add all of them together.

ReplyDeleteThe family have to pay 3908 pounds.
Dear Mr Troy,

What a super explanation Ishaan! Very impressive!
DeleteThank you, Mr Troy.
DeleteStep 1: £668 x 2 = £1336 (price of two adults)
ReplyDeleteStep 2: £668/2 = £334
Step 3: £334 + £150 = £484 (price of one child)
Step 4: £484 x 3 = £1452 (price of 3 children)
Step 5: £1452 + 1336 = 2788 (price of the whole family)
Step 5: £10 + £6 = £16 (price of one person in the hotel when with a balcony and sea view)
Step 6: £16 x 5 = £80 (price of the whole family in the hotel when with a balcony and sea view)
Step 7: £80 x 14 = £1120 (price of the whole family in the hotel when with a balcony and sea view for 2 weeks - 14 days)
Step 8: £1120 + £2788 = £3908 ( the total price to pay to their hotel)

Delete668x2=1336
ReplyDelete668 divided by 2=334
334+150=484
484x3=1452
1452+1336=2788
14x80=1120
2788+1120=3908
THE ANSWER IS £3908
They start the holiday on the 15th August so the price for one adult is £668.
ReplyDeleteThere are two adults so £668 + £668 = £1336
The price for one child is £668(adult price) / 2 = 334
334 + 150 = £484
£484 X 3 = £1452 for all three children.
£1336 (adults) + £1452 (children) = £2788 for all five people
Sea view = £50 per night
£50 X 14 = £700
Balcony = £30 per night
£30 X 14 = £420
£700 + £420 = £1120
£2788 (price for everyone) + £1120 (sea view and balcony) = £3908
The total cost for the holiday is £3908.
668x2=1336
ReplyDelete668divided by2=334
334+150=484
484x3=1452
1452+1336=2788
14x80=1120
2788+1120=£3908
So the cost for staying in hotel is =£3908

1.£668 × 2 = £1,336
ReplyDelete2.£484 × 3 = £1,452.
3.Total cost for 2 weeks is:£2,788
4.Sea view:£50 × 14 = £700
5.Balcony:£30 × 14 = £420
6.The total amount is:
