The Tortoise and the Hare

  1. 2 hours and 30 mins/ 10= 2 mins and 30 seconds [this is the time the hare needs to complete the race]
    2 mins and 30 seconds+ 30 seconds= 3 mins
2 hours and 30 mins - 3 mins= 2 hours and 27 mins [this is how long the hare slept]

  2. 2 hours 30 minutes = 150 minutes
    150 / 60 = 2.5
    Tortoise moved at 2.5 kmh.
    2.5 x 10 = 25
    Hare moved at 25 kph.
    10 / 25 = 0.4
Hare ran it in 40 minutes.
    40 minutes = 30 seconds = 40.5 minutes
    150 - 40.5 = 109.5
Hare, I think, slept for 1 hour and 49.5 minutes.

  3. And........ ten minutes is over! This was a pretty hard question so I didn't get the answer but did some working out. At the beginning I was just staring at the screen wondering what to do for about five minutes then my brain started to work. The tortoise ran 10 km for every 150 minutes. The hare ran 10x the speed of the tortoise which meant that he spent 15 minutes to run 10 km. That was as far as I got in a few minutes.

  4. 2 hrs and 30 minutes : 150 mins%10=15 mins
15 mins is the time it takes for the hare to finish the race.
    150mins+30sec=150 mins 30 sec
The hare slept for 135mins and 30 secs. BY RISHY

  5. The race was 10 kilometre long. The tortoise took 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish the race and the hare took 30 seconds longer than the tortoise so the hare takes 2 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds.
    2 hours and 30 minutes=150 minutes
    So 2 hours,30 minutes and 30 seconds=150 minutes and 30 seconds
The tortoise takes 150 minutes:10 kilometres
The hare takes 15 minutes:10 kilometres
    150-15=135 minutes
So I need to divide 135 divided by 60 to convert the minutes to hours. So 135 divided by 60=2.25 which is equal to 2 hours and 25 minutes . So the hare slept for 2 hours and 25 minutes.

  6. The tortoise will take 150 minutes to run 100km.
That means the hare will take 15 minutes to run 10km as the hare is 10 times faster than the tortoise.
As the hare normally would take 15 minutes to get to the finish line but took 150 minutes and 30 seconds you need to take away 30 seconds from 150 minutes and thirty seconds.
That equals 135 minutes and thirty seconds.
That means the hare had a nap for 2hrs 15mins and 30 seconds.

  7. The tortoise took 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish the race so in total the tortoise took 150 minutes. If you divide 150 by 10 you get 15 minutes so you find out how much the hare took to comlete the race without sleeping. Now you need to take away 15 minutes from 2 hours 30 minutes and 30 seconds.
    2 hours 30 minutes and 30 seconds-15 minutes=2 hours 15 minutes and 30 seconds.
The hare sleeped for 2 hours15 minutes and 30 seconds.

  8. 2 hours, 14 minutes and 30 seconds is the answer...i think! The tortoise takes 2 hours and a half but if we convert it into minutes it is 150 minutes. The hare was 10 times faster than the tortoise. So if we divide 150 minutes by 10 it equals 15 minutes. 15 minutes is the time the hare would have taken if the hare hadn't slept. But the hare did sleep and it was 30 seconds late at the finish line. Now all we have to do is minus 15 minutes and 30 seconds to 150 minutes. The answer becomes 134 minutes and 30 seconds. Finally we have to convert 134 minutes and 30 seconds into hours. That is 2 hours, 14 minutes and 30 seconds!!!

  9. This how I am answering this question
    Tortoise to hare
    tortoise: hare
150mins per km: 15 mins per km speed/time
It takes hare 15 mins to do the whole track . Half way through it took him 7 minutes and 30 seconds to do half of the race .

    150 mins+ 30sec -15 minutes= 135 minutes

He slept for 135 minutes and 30 seconds.
